Composite Doors

This is a common question, and the clue is in their name; composite doors are made with multiple materials bonded together under high pressure around an insulating 44.5mm foam core. This makes them slightly thicker than regular front doors and gives them increased strength and energy efficiency. 

We would strongly recommend against repainting your composite door. When the door is manufactured, we use powder coating instead of traditional methods, which bonds the colour to the door and makes it exceptionally long-lasting and fade-resistant. As a side effect, this means they can’t be easily repainted. If you were to try repainting a composite door yourself, the new colour would just flake off once it dried.

Decades; composite doors have an average lifespan of 30 to 40 years and can survive even longer if kept in good condition. 

It’s relatively straightforward and requires no specialist knowledge. To keep your composite door in good condition, we suggest cleaning it using hot water and over-the-counter cleaning solutions every few months, lubricating the mechanisms two to three times a year and removing any debris from the frame. Otherwise, they don’t need much attention at all.
